Almost two weeks after the official release of KKW Beauty, Kim Kardashian has already raked in millions and left all makeup junkies anxiously waiting for restocks of the sold-out products. With her sister Kylie Jenner already dominating the makeup industry with Kylie Cosmetics, people are accusing Kim of coming for Kylie’s throne.
According to Kim, that is so not the case! Kim has expressed being proud of Kylie’s venture, but their target audiences are completely different. Both cosmetic lines both dropped with kits that feature different focuses. The concentration is more on what they are individually known for: Kylie’s over plumped pout and the Kardashian contour, a la Kim.
Although contouring, (a makeup trick that slims the face without surgery) was discovered before Kim’s introduction, it took the makeup world by storm after she showed off some before and after pics of her face. Along with her sisters, this adopted makeup trend has birthed their own aesthetic, It’s now emulated by countless makeup users, and is known as the ”Instagram face” across social media platforms.
Kylie Cosmetics also includes some eye and cheek products, and KKW Beauty will subtly fill the gaps of the brand with a focus on skincare.
”A lot of my stuff is going to be for skin.…[I’m] trying to mirror skin care with makeup,” Kardashian says to WWD. “It’s going to be a different vibe; it’s not going to be a full color cosmetics [range] with shadows and all of that to start. I will probably do some kits here and there of specific looks I’ve done and keep it within the looks.”
We’re sure all makeup enthusiasts will be on the look out for restocks and new products on KKW Beauty. For now, you can catch helpful tutorials from the Contour Queen herself, here!
