Although we’re in the midst of an Indian summer, fall is officially upon us, meaning if you haven’t already, it’s time to say goodbye to your shorts and tanks and hello to your favorite scarves and boots. Because fall is all about staying both warm and looking cute, at the same time, we’ve compiled the 6 items every fashion star should invest in to make your fall wardrobe even more fabulous.
1. (Faux) Leather Leggings
Whether you prefer them faux or the real deal, leather leggings are a reoccurring top trend during the colder seasons. The great thing about them is you can dress them up or down. For a dressier look, pair your leggings with a peplum top and heels. For added effect, throw on a blazer or down coat over your shoulders. To dress the look down, we suggest sporting a graphic tee or flannel. No matter what look you chose, you’ll still look as chic as ever.
2. Blanket Scarves
Blanket Scarves are one of the biggest trend accessories for fall. Why is it such an important accessory piece? Because, there are literally a million different ways you can style and a blanket scarf! You can change your style up just by how you pick to wear the blanket scarf. Pro tip: tie it around your neck for a more traditional look or string it around your neck a few times and play with the styling, for a more unique look.
3. The Utility Jacket
Utility jackets are great for the fall weather because they aren’t too heavy. Unlike your moto jacket, you won’t get as hot on a more mild day when wearing a utility jacket. If it’s breezy or a little chillier when you plan to wear yours, experiment with a blanket scarf and of course, your favorite leather leggings. The great thing about utility jackets is that they make for perfect fall layering.
4. The Suede Skirt
Make a serious style statement with a brown suede skirt this fall! To fully embrace the 70’s look that is everywhere this season, add a fringe top and killer pair of knee or thigh high boots. For a more day time look, pair your skirt with a denim jacket and white blouse. To transition into night, add a vintage black moto jacket and black booties to give off a more modern vibe.
5. The Chunky Knit Sweater
Chunky knit sweaters and thick turtlenecks are trending this season. For a going out look, pair a cropped turtleneck with a skater skirt or leather leggings. For a more everyday look, layer a chunky sweater or turtleneck with skinny jeans or even over a maxi dress. For the fall, the chunkier the sweater, the better.
6. Fur Vest
Much like fall, fur vest season is officially here! They are perfect for layering and there are so many different colors, styles, lengths and types to choose from. Having trouble deciding what to wear with it? If you’re heading to a holiday party, wear a long sleeved red dress with tights and the fur vest over your dress. For a more relaxed look, wear skinnies and a long white blouse with a statement necklace.
