All the ‘Grown-ish’ Hairstyles and Outfits Worth Copying

If you’ve been keeping up with, Black-ish, ABC’s hit TV-show starring our girl Yara Shahidi, you know her character Zoey Johnson is always fly.

In the spin-off, Grown-ish —which watching it has become part of my weekly routine, Zoey’s style is not only more fab but her hair is also killing the game.

Grown-ish is a great, modern, coming of age show about early college students dealing with drugs, dating, race, sex, and politics. Whether you’re in college or not, we all seem to find it relatable AF in some way.

I enjoy seeing the diversity in the show as well as the representation of a  black girl with thick, curly hair styled in unique, edgy ways proving that different hair textures are manageable and versatile, too. “I tried to go according to character, so, for Yara, she’s very trendy and is supposed to be really fashion-forward, so I tried to keep her looks more innovative,” Tinisha Meeks told Nylon, the stylist with magic hands behind Zoey’s hair who’s worked behind the scenes of all of our favorite shows.

In reality, we may not always have the time and energy to show up to class or work looking street style photo-op ready Zoey Johnson does, but it’s cool to have some inspiration for when we feel like it! Here are a few of my favorite looks and hairstyles from Grown-ish.
