When thinking of what our ideal wardrobe would look like as we mature–affordable, trendy pieces with an air of sophistication, Christina Karin nails it for us.
Christina Karin Monley is a mom, wife, Designer and Chief Creative Director behind her eponymous label. Last week, our team was invited to Christina’s super chic showroom for an intimate shopping event and preview of her new collection!
She was already hard at work when I came to the studio, wearing her denim striped track pants and embellished boots, sifting through the racks showing pieces to a client with her puppy scurrying along, making the cutest second host.
Her design space looks like a pin straight out of one of our Pinterest #OfficeGoals boards, decorated with fabulous coffee table books, mood boards, and mannequins. We had champagne, tried on clothes with her design assistants and briefly rambled about fashion and trends. Being a stylish career woman, of course I had to ask for advice on nailing a day-to-day look–because shopping can be annoying, especially on a budget!
When creating your signature style, she believes in investing in key pieces and less trendy ones; then mix and match with vintage or lower priced items. Another style tip she gave courtesy of her assistant’s pointed toe mules: silver metallic shoes are an outfit game changer!
Christina Karin tends to shy away from the traditional seasonal collection release mold, and her label captures the chic essence of a downtown girl who shares the same rebellious energy. As a designer who stands in the middle of high quality and affordable, she stays ahead of the design spectrum by creating timeless and versatile pieces that exist before the multiple fast fashion labels’ versions.
If you’re interested in seeing more of Christina Karin, she’ll be back with another event in April. Her capsule collection ”Love Stings’, which she describes her inspiration as ”love with an edge” is something we’re definitely excited to see! In the meantime, be sure to keep up with her on Instagram and check out her full collections here.
