Recently, I had the good fortune to mooch off a coworker’s FabFitFun box and snagged a couple of products–I am officially obsessed!
For those of you who aren’t familiar with FabFitFun, it’s a quarterly subscription service that curates boxes of 8-10 full-sized products ranging from beauty to fitness to home (and everything in between!) for $49.99 each season. Here are my thoughts on my favorite two products that came in this summer’s box!
Vasanti ‘Brighten Up! Face Rejuvenator $29
Right off the bat, I was nervous to use this product. My skin is pretty finicky—I’m acne-prone and have a fair amount of redness and large pores– #blessed. This product is described as an exfoliating cleanser that can be used 3-5 times a week, which also had me skeptical. As a girl with sensitive skin, I’m used to exfoliating only once a week, two tops, because anything more than that irritates the shit out of my face. To Vasanti’s credit, the micro-crystals in this cleanser were way smaller than any other exfoliator I had ever tried, so I had high hopes that I could use it for the recommended 3-5 times a week. Boy, was I wrong! I used the product three days in a row, and I physically couldn’t get myself to try for longer. This, for some reason, hurt like a mother trucker. In my opinion, washing my face at night is supposed to be relaxing not painful. I will say, though, that the product never actually broke me out or irritated my skin! It sort of did nothing… so, if I had to give it a rating on a scale of 1-5, I would say 2/5 for effectiveness and 0/5 for the experience.
Coola Face Sport SPF 50 White Tea Moisturizer, $32
I have been dying to try this brand ever since YouTuber Casey Holmes mentioned a product of theirs in her May Hits and Misses video. I tend to trust Casey’s recommendations because she is an oily girl just like me, and all you oily girls out there know how hard it is to find a sunscreen that doesn’t make you feel like you just rubbed butter all over your face. Sunscreen is so important–we really should be putting it on every day before we step outside to protect against wrinkles, discoloration, and skin cancer. This sunscreen is white, so if you’re afraid of flashback or looking ashy… you’ve been warned. On first application, I was not digging this because it left my face feeling sticky and gross, and I figured by the time I walked to work, my face would be an oil slick. Weirdly enough, though, my face actually didn’t get as oily with the sunscreen on as it usually does without it. The stickiness never fully dried down, but it got to a manageable level, so overall I would call this a win! I definitely want to check out their other products now!
Other products included a Tarte Pro-Glow highlighting kit, an ERTH ring, a Summer Rose beach towel, a Pier 1 marble desk accessory, and a hair protectant spray from Orlando Pita Play (which smells SO good!) In all, this was a very impressive box and it’s gonna be a long summer, so I def could put all of these products to use.
