One of the WRUWGirls’ favorite beauty trends for Fall 2015 is a Matte lip, also known as: velour or suede lips. No matter if it’s a classic red or soft nude, we’re into it. Our favorite celebrities and YouTube gurus have been spotted all over the web in this amazing look and thankfully, it’s a simple trend that anyone can pull off as long as you have the right products! There are different beauty brands, high and low end that have multiple options. NYX, ColourPop, & NARS are a few of our favorites but there are so many more! Keep reading to see how WRUW Girl Tatianna pulls off the perfect suede lip and how you can too, in a few simple steps!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Concealer for clean-up
- Favorite Matte lipstick
- Nude & Dark Brown Lip Liner
- Lip Balm
- Lip Exfoliator
- Exfoliate & Moisturize: I love Lush’s lip exfoliators and my favorite flavor is Mint Julips! I apply it to my lips and rub them together in preparation. Once your lips are nice and soft, wipe the exfoliant off. Now, it’s time to moisturize your lips. I’m sticking with the mint theme and using my vanilla mint EOS lip balm.
- Create A Base For Your Matte Lip Color: To make your lip color last, you should use lip liner. I use two different colors to give my lips depth: MAC’s Nightmoth and Kiko Milano’s 700. The nude lip liner will make your lips one even color and the dark liner will create a shadow on your lips that gives them dimension. I line my lips with the nude liner then fill them in completely. After that, I use the darker lip liner to color in the corners of your lips.
- Apply Lip Color: I am a big fan of liquid lipsticks. The one I am using here is Trap by ColourPop cosmetics, it has a nice greige tone to it (grey and beige). The rabbit foot applicator allows for very easy application: simply swipe it over your lips and you’re set! After I apply the lip color I like to go around my lips with concealer to clean up any spots that aren’t so neat. L.A. Girl conceal is perfect for this, I used the shade almond.
Here is the final look! I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial enough to try your own suede lip. If you do try this trend, make sure to share it on the WRUW APP and Instagram and tag it with #WRUWDoesSuedeLips so that we can see!
