She’s back b*tches, and in a way we’ve never seen her before! That’s right, Kristin Cavallari is returning to reality television with her latest show on E!, Very Cavallari! The new gig, which airs Sunday, 9CT, follows Kristins life as a wife, mother, and entrepreneur. Let’s just say, while it’s not the same show as Laguna Beach or The Hills, it’s still going to be a wild ride. I got the chance to catch up with Kristin while she was jet setting to LA. We got into it all from the gossip on her new show, to how she handles mommy-shamers and if there will be a Hills Reunion!
Staci Wuokko: This summer, you are returning to TV with your new E! show, Very Cavallari! We can’t wait to see the show, is it weird going back to reality television with Very Cavallari?
Kristin Cavallari: I was a little nervous right before we starting shooting but that quickly went away. I had so much fun and I’m an executive producer this time around, so I had way more control than previously.
SW: This isn’t your first time on the t.v. screen! What was your favorite part about jumping back into filming with Very Cavallari?
Trivia Answer: Yes, there will be a The Hills Reunion – see what Kristin has to say about it in her interview below!
KC: Since the show is about my business, Uncommon James, it really made my staff and I incredibly close and I love that. You become a family with the cast and crew.
KC: It’s every area of my life! Being a wife, a friend, and business owner. I didn’t put my kids on the show, but you still get to see glimpses of me as a mom. The drama is left to my staff, which is the best of both worlds for me! But there are a lot of fun and laughs, relatable issues, and that tough love that some people know me for.
SW: Now that you’re back on TV, any chance of a special Hills reunion!?
KC: I would love one!
SW: We hope to see that one day! On top of filming a reality show, you also opened up your Nashville headquarters and flagship store of Uncommon James! What trends or pieces are necessary for summer?
KC: Summer is always so hot, so I like keeping jewelry simple with delicate pieces like a simple gold choker, or one fun piece like a fringe earring.
SW: Another project you accomplished was, True Roots: A Mindful Kitchen with More Than 100 Recipes Free of Gluten, Dairy, and Refined Sugar – We LOVE the book! It helped me get way better at cooking and taught me how to be more aware of what I am putting in my body. We are always trying to eat better. Do you have any advice on how to stay committed to eating better, or how to get started on making a lifestyle change when it comes to food?
KC: I’m so happy to hear that, thanks! I always tell people to start slow. Maybe pick one or two additives to look for, such as corn syrup and added colors. Read every single ingredient label, and if those items are on there, then don’t buy it. Do this until it becomes second nature. Then, start adding more additives in that you want to stay away from. I never look at calories, fat, or anything else. I only read the ingredients and try to eat food as real as possible.
SW: I totally need to try that! Thanks for the tips. Back to mom-world. You told PEOPLE: “Getting backlash about anything I’m doing when it comes to parenting, I really don’t give a s— about because I’m so confident at what I’m doing as a mom that I don’t care.” Um, heck, yes, girl! We love you and are obsessed the way you stood up for yourself. What advice do you have for moms that are feeling the heat of “mom-shame,” or are not feeling their best as a mom?
KC: I would just ignore it. Talk to your mom, your friends and maybe ask their opinion if you need outside support. But ultimately, we have to do what we feel is best for our children.
SW: I couldn’t agree with you more. Bye haters! You just celebrated five years of marriage – congrats! Any advice on keeping the spark alive while balancing it all?
KC: It can be really hard sometimes. I wish I had some great secret! Luckily, I’m still attracted to Jay. Maybe it’s because his hair is long at the moment (she laughs)!
SW: (Laughing) Whatever works, right?! We can’t wait to see you back on the TV – in one word, how would you describe the show?
