Target released new swimwear – but it’s not just the adorable suits we can’t stop staring at – it’s also the beautiful models
The brand took real girls and didn’t digitally retouch any photos – not one. Scars, stretch marks, cellulite, acne and more are all present in the ad campaign, which is not something you see every day in bikini ads.
“Target is committed to empowering women to feel confident in what they wear by offering a variety style choices. We loved working with these women because they embody confidence and inspire women to embrace and be proud of who they are, regardless of their size or shape,” Jessica Carlson, a Target spokeswoman, told Refinery 29. “It was important to us to use photography that represented their true beauty, without filters.”
Typically when we look at a bikini ad, our first thought is, “Man, I wish I had that body.” We forget we are looking at an ad, and not a Sports Illustrated calendar. When flipping through Target’s campaign, not only do we notice the gorgeous girls wearing the suits, but we also notice the swimwear itself and how great it looks on them. In other words, we see … normal!
The four models chosen for Targets ads include dancer Megan Batoon, pro skateboarder Lizzie Armanto, model and body activist Denise Bidot, and TV host and model Kamie Crawford.
We can only hope more brands get on board with this idea!
