Velvet Trend: Because Everyone Is Doing It

As we move through fall, there’s one trend that’s taking over: Velvet. We know what you’re thinking – that ugly navy velvet dress your mom made you wear as a kid is back in style? Not exactly…

The 90s movement has made a massive comeback and it’s gotten an upgrade from those iconic juicy tracksuit days. The fabric was caught in almost every runway show from London to New York, and Zendaya totally brought it into her new clothing line. The best part about it? Depending how you wear it, it can be seen as sexy AF, or casual and cozy. You’ll find it in every color and it’s seen on everything from shoes and trousers, to bomber jackets and fancy dresses.

Scared to take the dive? Try a velvet booty or a little black dress and play it safe. If you’re ready to slay the look, try a bright colored jumpsuit or joggers. Whatever you choose you can’t go wrong. Still can’t decide which way to don the trend is right for you? Check out some of WRUW’s favorites below.

As we mentioned above, sliding on a frock in the material makes you feel like a supermodel. We recommend choosing a simple dark color to give off a romantic gothic feeling. Just don’t blame us when you turn every head in the room.
