For those of you who have never experienced the magic that is New York Fashion Week, the mornings are early, the afternoons jam-packed and the evenings tend to quickly turn into the next morning. As for those of you have attended or even worked this stylish cyclone of a week, you understand that your outfits should be pre-prepared, your heels comfy and your bag, appropriately stocked, as well. You never know when that little snack you grabbed before heading out might just save your life and serve as your lunch for the day! Similar to our last post, we hit up some of our favorite fashion week experts and had them spill on their fashion week essentials and what they’re packing in their designer bags in preparation for long days and even longer nights.
Alyssa Neilson, PR Assistant at Krupp Group
During September fashion week, it’s still pretty hot, unlike winter fashion weeks. Because it’s so hot in New York still, especially when I’m running around, I always have moisturizers in my bag. Right now, I use just Glossier’s priming moisturizer and Embryolisse’s and Glossier’s Balm Dot Com salve for my lips. I love Mario Badescu’s rose water and aloe spray to cool down and hydrate my skin. I also can’t leave home without Mac lipsticks, since I hop around the city with different people and can never go home in between. I always have a deep red and a Ruby Woo in my bag, as well as a spare Agent Provacateur bra and 6397 tee that I carry in my tote bag for outfit changes throughout the day. I’m not really big on makeup, but I do wear a Kevyn Auccoin blush which I take off with a mini Bioderma makeup remover that I keep nearby. I also carry lots of good reads to kill time for when I do have downtime. During fashion week, I always have a note pad and notebook with me because I take down so many names and make so many scheduled appointments that are work related. Also, it’s always important to get your name out there, so I always carry business cards by the stack for fashion week!
Rebecca Erdman, Junior Account Executive at Paul Wilmot CommunicationsMost of my Fashion Week is spent running around, so I make sure to have a change of heels and metro card on hand. Another essential I don’t leave the house without is my Strand notebook and pen because I always find myself jotting things down. Lastly, I swear by Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and Perricone MD No Lipstick Lipstick for quick touch-ups – it’s amazing what prominent brows and a polished lip can do!
Kyla Cherry, Intern at Elle Magazine
In my bag I have my #alwayschic wallet, my comb for any hair emergency, my chapstick, my Aldo shades, and a few bracelets in case I changed my mind about my accessory choice later!
Kristie Dash, Assistant Beauty Editor at Allure Magazine
My role at fashion week entails interviewing hair and makeup artists, before shows, about the looks they created on the models. Space is tight backstage, and I need to be hands-free to type notes on my phone (my Mophie is my biggest lifeline!), so this bucket bag is compact but still holds anything I could ever need: wallet, sunglasses, phone charger, almonds (easy snack), mint gum (not chic, but necessary for long days and nights), and my pouch of beauty essentials. Powder and lipstick instantly refresh my look, and I never leave home without lip balm, concealer, and hand cream. Oh, and this random mini brush that’s falling apart. I think it’s over five years old, but it’s the perfect size.
Arianna Lazos, Assistant Account Executive at Paul Wilmot CommunicationsDuring NYFW, you can find me front of house, iPad in hand, checking guests into my clients’ shows. I never have much room, so I tuck my essentials in the front zipper of my Timo Weiland x Bartaile backpack for quick, easy access; Anastasia Liquid Lipstick, a mini Balenciaga Florabotanica bottle, my trusty camo clipper lighter (You never know – Nick Wooster may need one!), and of course my business cards and a pen. I always, always have a pen. Other staples in my backpack include my the latest issue of WWD for on the go reading, Zoya Satin polish for emergency touch-ups, and of course my Nike Air Max sneakers for when I can’t take running around in heels anymore – which is rare, but it does happen. See you out there! xx
